I’m Pilbara Regional Manager of Yamatji Marpla Aboriginal Corporation, a native title representative body that is funded by our federal government. We are a not for profit organisation that represents traditional owners across an area, that goes out to the Northern Territory border and comes down into the Yamatji region. We represent 24 different Aboriginal Traditional Owner groups, each with their own distinct country, culture and identity. YMAC's representative area covers over one million square kilometres, with offices in Geraldton, South Hedland, Karratha, Tom Price and Perth.
I work from 7am until 5pm. We’ve got one office in Hedland, one in Tom Price and one at Karratha. In the region I have 20 staff, who range from lawyers to anthropologists. I live here in Port Hedland, where I’ve been for five years. I oversee our works in the region, I travel all over, this side of the country and anywhere in between.
